So we all hit those times when we are needing some extra cash! Mine usually hits each month around the end of the month. Now that I am on disability and fixed incomes, I really have issues with making it through each month. I have never been the greatest at managing my own money to be quite honest. I admit that when I get to shopping sometimes it is a wrap! And after working as a dancer for many years before I got paralyzed I got spoiled to the easier money. And having it available to me anytime. So when you go from that to only getting less than a thousand dollars a month, it really makes it difficult sometimes. So I decided to do this post on how to get things you may need for your crafts for really cheap, or even for free. And some ways to even get free money for some of those times through the month when your wallet doesn’t agree so much with your shopping. So here we go.
Number 1. Ask your friends and family members.
So if you don’t have a whole lot of money to put out on crafting materials, then just go around and ask the people that you know. I know that I have many family members and friends who are always cleaning out their closets and trying to make room for the new in life. So sometimes you might be surprised by how much you can get from just those around you that you know.
Number 2. Check on Craigslist for free items.
So I do know that Craigslist has a whole section devoted to free items that people are giving away. And you can even search directly in your area. I know that there are other apps out there and selling groups that have people giving items away, as well as selling them. So you might just want to check around to other ones also.
Number 3. Thred Up
So Thred Up is an app you can get on your smartphone. I know that they will actually send you the bags that are needed for you to clean out your closets and send those items to them. And they will actually pay you for certain types of designer clothing and accessories. I actually still have some money on my account with them that I have not cashed out or spent with them from when I sent them 2 huge bags of clothing. So even with the clothing that they do not buy, you will have the option to have it sent back to you, or to donate it. So I know that I felt great when I donated the rest of my clothes! I definitely needed to get rid of those huge bags plus even more when I did it!
Number 4. Goodwill, Thrift Stores, & Yard Sales.
So I absolutely live for going to Goodwill and my local Thrift store. I get completely lost inside of these stores when I do go shopping. You can find so many good deals on designer clothing, purses, shoes, and lots of craft items for dirt cheap! I forgot to mention auctions in my above title. Estate auctions or even local auctions that happen every week are great ways of finding things for practically nothing at times. And don’t forget your local yard sales and flea markets. Though both do tend to be more of a seasonal thing, you definitely don’t want to miss out on them when they are going on. I have gotten antiques and craft supplies for little of nothing at many yard sales and flea markets.
Number 5. Dumpster Diving
Yea dumpster diving! I know it sounds hideous, but sometimes you can get some awesome things out of them. Now I am not promoting to run around just jumping into any dumpster you happen to see out there to try and rummage up some good stuff. I am talking more along the lines of your local flooring stores types of dumpsters. We have pulled everything from tile cutters, to 5 gallon bucket of Benjamin Moore paint unopened, out of our local flooring dumpster. A word to the wise, make sure that you would get permission from the owners before you start going through their dumpsters.
Number 6. Unclaimed Money
I just recently started searching for unclaimed money in my name and in my family members names. I wanted to see if it was real, or just some scam that someone had going on. And I have actually gotten money back for my boyfriend Justin, and my mother. Of course I didn’t have any money out there to claim! But I did find some for other people around me. Who took care of me for finding it for them. So check out the link above and see if you have some money out there just waiting to be found!
Number 7. Go Back To School
Going back to school can offer you a lot of extra living expense money for while you are doing your classes. There are all types of Financial Aid that you can get to help you out while in school again. There are Grants, Loans, and Scholarships. If you choose to go full time then you can get up to $6,000 for each semester. Part of this money will be in the form of Loans. And part of it would be in the form of Grants. This was actually how I got back on my feet after becoming paralyzed. By going back to school and getting the money from school I was able to get a car, my trailer paid off, and all of the things I needed in my home. It took me a while of doing this to get everything. But little by little, by going back each semester and finishing my classes, I was able to accomplish it. So check into it or contact me if you need any help with figuring out how to get back in there. Because it’s not just about getting some money. It is about the fact that if you follow through with it then you will have a degree one day. And that means a better paying job with a brighter future one day. And it takes small steps to get there. But you can accomplish it if you really want it and do what is necessary to obtain it.
Number 8 Selling Items On Amazon or Facebook
If you are like me then you probably have way too much stuff just lurking around your home. And what better way to get rid of it than to sell it online? You get cash and you get rid of your stuff. Win and Win there. Sometimes you may have to wait to get your money for these sales until the person receives the item. At least until you establish some trust with the company you are selling your items at. But sometimes you can sell something locally. Then you just meet up with the person and make your exchange. Then it is cash that same day! But be careful when you are doing any types of deals where you have to meet up with another person in order to get it sold. Always try and meet in a well lit up and busy environment. Just to be safe.
Number 9. Sell Your Used College Textbooks With BooksRun
If you have any college textbooks laying around that you don’t need anymore then you might be able to cash in on those today. Just use my link that I have provided and put in your isbn number to get your free quote. And if you like the quote they give you then you can go ahead and sell to them. If not, then you can try some other place. And they also sell used college textbooks for way cheaper than what the schools will be selling these things for. I know that financial aid will give you everything you need financially to pay for all of your supplies and even your cost of living. But even with them doing that I still can’t find myself paying top dollar for some of these books. Especailly when I can go other places and get the exact same thing for half of the price.
Number 10. Open A Cash App Account I will enclose the links below that are needed for you to click on my sharing link and get your free $5 when you open an account with them. I have recently started using the cash app after one of my daughter’s told me aboput them. And I have to say that it was very easy to get on there and get started. And it was very easy to send money and to receive money using them. I was pleasantly surprised by it. I was expecting a lot of aggravation in order to actually use their services once I was signed up with them. So I highly recommend them. My sharing code is below and I believe that we will both get $5 when someone signs up using my code below. Hey! I’ve been using Cash App to send money and spend money using the Cash Card. Try it using my code and you’ll get $5.
Number 11. Open Up A Varo Checking Account And Get $75
I have been with Varo online banking for a few years now. And I have to say that I have never had any problems with them at all. They replaced money in my account once when some fishy stuff came up with some money being spent out of my account. They were fast and efficient with the way they handled the problem. They have always cashed checks I needed cashed with no problems. So I do highly recommend trying them out. And you and I will get $75 for just opening up an account.

Number 12. Open an online shopping account with Walmart and get $10 off when you shop your first order
